Behind the Lens
I BELIEVE
love conquers all || the small moments matter || adventure is out there
Rachel Aiken families are full of love. They desire to cherish memories, making them last a lifetime. A legacy is built in the small moments of life. Rachel Aiken families go with the flow. They make the most of a well-timed tantrum or skinned knee, finding the silver-lining.
Rachel Aiken Photography became official in 2018. A love for photography was sparked in my middle-school elective photography dark room. But the birth of my first child inspired me to pick up a camera again. Snapping simple moments with my son, bringing my camera to playdates, eventually being asked to take pictures of friends' families. What started as a hobby developed into a passionate love.
Say Hello to Rachel
Hi there, I'm Rachel. It's so nice to meet you!
Photography has always been near and dear to my heart. As a young girl, I often was found digging through a drawer full of my family's old Polaroids. Pictures of my parents as a young couple. A wedding. The birth of my older brother. Vacations. Family reunions. A birthday party. Kisses and hugs. My older sister being born. A Christmas gift-unwrapping session. A soccer game. And me.
A Polaroid containing so much more than a strip of film.
With the birth of my son and moments passing quickly, I wanted to create a legacy. Similar to that drawer of Polaroids. A hard-drive full of images. Images of my son throwing rocks on the beach, running into his daddy's arms after a long deployment, the birth of my daughter. The moments that make my family mine. Telling our story.
My goal as a photographer is to capture what makes you and your family yours. The love you share. Through a longing, adoring stare. A tender kiss on a forehead. A tugging pull on a hand. Small, fleeting moments are what we look back upon and smile.
I am from the beautiful mountains of Colorado. The mountains are where I am most at home. Although I can certainly appreciate a beach any day of the week. Being stationed in Alaska the last three years grew my appreciation for natural backdrops and surroundings. Now back in Washington, I am excited to embrace that even more. We are an Air Force family, my husband a C-17 pilot, with our young son and daughter. We live our lives knowing that in Christ all things are possible. God’s handprint is on everything around us.
“Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31
I am based in Puyallup, Washington and photograph locally around the Puyallup and Tacoma region. I also travel and make annual trips to Colorado and Alaska.
